Summer is my favorite season, I just want to soak up the sun all day. During this season there is endless birthdays and BBQ get togethers, any excuse to fire up the grill.

Hosting events can be demanding, and spending all day at the pool can be draining...you want dinner to be delicious but fast.

 

Sliders are just as delicious as burgers but cook in half the time, and they look cute! I also grilled some red onions. Grilling them really brings out their sweetness and compliments the sliders very well.

For this recipe I combined ground turkey and ground beef and had sliders in no time.

 

 

What you need:

 

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 lb ground turkey
  • 1 pkg grillmates Smokey Applewood Seasoning
  • 10 whole wheat bakery slider buns
  • 1 red onion, grilled 
  • burger condiments of choice (lettuce, tomato, ketchup, etc...)

Begin by combining ground turkey, ground beef and seasoning in large bowl. You can cover and place in fridge for 20 mins or overnight.

If using the grill, lightly drizzle olive oil on red onion and grill until char on the egdes. If you are cooking indoors, you can also broil the red onion. Slice into rounds and place on baking sheet drizzled with olive oil..broil about ten minutes.

Shape meat into small patties and grill about 6-8 minuts each side, until well done. (during last 5 minutes of cooking place cheese over burgers if you are making cheeseburgers)

Slice buns in half and lightly grill inner sides of bun for a few minutes. Place sliders on buns and top with your favorite condiments. I've used leaf lettuce, tomatoes and grilled red onion.
