Sunday in our home usually consists of sleeping in late, and a step up from that weekday bowl of cereal. I decided to wake everyone up with the deliciously sweet aroma of this simple tart.

 

Strawberry preserves, cream cheese, and almonds compliment each other, giving this tart just the right touch of sweetness, creaminess, and crunch. Excellent as a pairing with the more savory elements of brunch.

What you need:

  • 1 container of refrigerated crescent rolls (seamless, if possible)
  • 2 tbsps of each strawberry preserves and cream cheese
  • 2 tsp butter/margarine (melted)
  •  sliced almonds (for sprinkling)

Preheat oven to 375 degrees

Carefully remove dough from package, roll out onto cookie sheet sprayed with cooking spray.If crescent has seams, gently push preforations together. Next, generously brush dough with melted butter.

Cut cream cheese into dime-size pieces (you can use your fingers or a knife). Then, scatter pieces all over dough.

Warm strawberry (or any flavor) preserves in microwave for 15- 20 seconds. Whisk until a more liquid consistency. Evenly spoon preserves all over dough.

Lastly, sprinkle almonds evenly over dough.

Bake for 10-12 mins or until golden brown around edges. Let cool 10 mins, and cut into squares.
