For this recipe, I thought making a puree of sweet and juicy summer fruit would work wonders for a margarita.

When you buy one of those monstrously big watermelons from the store, you have so much you have to put it to use.

I had some tequila, and thought I would make a sweet and juicy adult beverage, watermelon and strawberry come together beautifully and blended with ice makes the perfect drink for those hot summer days.

You can even leave out the tequila and the kids can enjoy a deliciously fruity drink.

What you need:

  • 1 1/2 cups watermelon, cut into pieces
  • 1 cup strawberries, cut into pieces
  • 1/2 cup tequila
  • 1/4 cup club soda
  • 1/2 cup ice
  • lime (to rim glasses)
  • sugar (to coat rimmed glasses)

Begin by pureeing watermelon and strawberry. Add tequila, club soda, and ice, blend until ice has combined. Should be a slush like consistency.

Rim glasses with lime and dip in sugar, pour in margarita and serve cold
